Belle Mead is a town in between Montgomery and Hillsborough Townships, New Jersey. Today Belle Mead is a widespread community consisting of residential areas, farmlands, parks, and shopping centers. The area is still considered a farming region, with many of these farms protected or preserved by Montgomery and Hillsborough Townships. However, building and residential areas have increased since the late 1990s. Despite the rise in buildings, Belle Mead still remains a small town with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The Stigma-Free Campaign is an initiative of the Somerset County Department of Human Services to raise awareness about the tangible impact of mental health stigma in the community. Stigma is the practice of associating negative stereotypes with certain memberships or characteristics, such as substance use disorders, race, social class, income, and intellectual or developmental disability status. This can create barriers and challenges that could be eliminated in relationships, housing, employment, and education.
