The borough borders the Bergen County municipalities of Hackensack, Moonachie, Ridgefield, Ridgefield Park, South Hackensack, and Teterboro. The town lies near the Hackensack River and Overpeck Creek confluence in the New Jersey Meadowlands. Located a stone’s throw from NYC, Little Ferry is a tight-knit suburban community of parks, close to numerous shopping venues and down the street from the Meadowlands. Home to “nature at its best” with a bird sanctuary, the trails & birding of the Losen Slote Creek Park, fishing at Lakeview Park, or visiting any of our pocket parks, there is something for everyone.  Little Ferry was first a part of New Barbados. Little Ferry later was a part of Lodi Township when the Township was formed in 1825. Incorporated in 1894, the Borough was named after the rope-drawn Little Ferry that crossed the Hackensack River between 1659 and 1826. A bridge was built in 1828 connecting Little Ferry and Ridgefield Park via Bergen Turnpike, a toll road.
