Harris County Drug Rehab Centers Resources

Harris County is the most populous county in Texas and the third-most populous county in the United States. Its county seat is Houston, the largest city in Texas and the fourth largest city in the United States. Harris County is included in the nine-county Houston–The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan statistical area (MSA), the fifth-most populous metropolitan area in the United States. It has many popular attractions, including Space Center Houston, and Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park, making it well worth a visit.

Unfortunately, the situation in Harris County is complicated, with some drugs and substances associated with mortality and drug use. From 2010 – 2016, there has been a relatively stable overdose-related mortality count in the county of 450 – 618 deaths per year. Of concern is that 2015-2016 suggests a sharp increase has occurred. Another complexity is that Harris County drug-related deaths seem largely from polysubstance abuse.

Also, deaths associated with cocaine, methamphetamine, and benzodiazepines have risen sharply in recent years. The fatalities attributed to methamphetamine rose from approximately 20 per year in 2010 – 2012 to 119 in 2016. This increase is alarming and suggests a large-scale public health response is needed.[1]

The United States has a severe drug abuse problem, and Texas is no exception. The large numbers of addicts indicate that the issue of drug abuse is widespread. Millions of Americans suffer from drug misuse, which has become increasingly harsh in recent years.

Delightedly, Harris County detox centers can provide medical care and various therapies, including detox treatments and counseling. Patients will be under medical supervision for 24 hours daily, during which they can relax and receive treatment. These programs provide a variety of therapies for other mental problems.

Harris County Detox Center Confront A Growing Substance Abuse Crisis

In recent decades, Texas has experienced a growing alcoholism and chemical abuse crisis. In 2009-2010, Texas was among the top ten states for cocaine use among persons aged 12-17. The number of meth lab seizures in Texas increased 22 percent, from 93 incidents in 2007 to 113 in 2010. Marijuana surpassed cocaine as the most commonly cited drug among primary drug treatment admissions in Texas in 2011, with 20 percent of primary drug treatment admissions for heroin.[2]

The Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown Metropolitan Statistical Area had an annual average rate of 490,000 persons aged 12 or older who used illicit drugs in 2011. This represents 11.8 percent of the MSA population and is similar to the rate for Texas (12.6 percent) but lower than the national rate (14.7 percent). Marijuana use was higher in the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown MSA than in Texas (7.9 percent vs. 5.9 percent) but lower than the national rate (14.7 percent). The rate of nonmedical prescription type pain relievers was lower in Houston-Sugar Land- Baytown Metropolitan Statistical Area than nationally (3.9 percent vs. 4.9 percent). [3]

Many individuals who struggle with substance use disorders find that it is challenging to overcome those challenges on their own. A professional clinical Harris County recovery assistance program can help you overcome those challenges and live a life free from addiction.

Harris County drug rehabilitation centers are available through the state’s resources. Harris County recovery assistance programs have also been popular in-demand services, as these treatments are needed for the growing number of substance mishandling victims. Most Harris County detox centers offer specific programs to treat common addictions such as Xanax addiction, Adderall addiction, and general opiates and opioid addiction therapy.

Harris County Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Rates

In the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown MSA in 2011, 369,000 persons aged 12 or older were classified with a substance use disorder. The corresponding rate was 8.9 percent, similar to the rate in Texas and the Nation, while 25.1 percent of people aged 12 or older participated in binge alcohol use at least once during the same year.[3]

The Texas region has been impacted by drug addiction to the extent that it is unique among states nationwide. This includes benzodiazepine abuse and alcoholism, as well as cocaine addiction problems too! Like most other states in the US, one of Texas’s most significant public health threats is the widespread availability of opioid drug addiction, including other illegal drugs such as heroin and legal prescription painkillers like oxycodone and hydrocodone. However, thousands of Harris County residents require alcohol inpatient treatment plus other hard drugs counseling. Many of these victims also struggle with dual diagnosis substance abuse and mental health problems.

Harris County recovery assistance program provides recovery to the state’s residents. Harris County detox centers are available statewide and concentrated not only in large but also in small cities. Harris County recovery assistance programs have several additional benefits for recovering addicts. Patients who enter addiction treatment will learn to overcome their addiction and acquire the skills to create a successful, healthy, and happy life. Each patient will learn how to manage and maintain healthy relationships with all their family members, friends, and colleagues. Patients will also bring home the knowledge they’ll acquire during addiction treatment and use it once they leave the clinic.

Individuals addicted to substances can attend Harris County drug rehab centers to gain experience with effective recovery techniques. These programs also provide a sense of community, as patients participate in daily routines and counseling sessions that keep them focused on their goals.
